Looking Back

I recently conversed with two fellow ex “Tuesday Weekly” newspaper photographers/writers and we all agreed that working for the Tuesday was a great experience and we learned a lot from our tenure there. It was an interesting time working for the ‘alternative’ paper in Ellsworth. We never knew what our Editor, Wayne, would dig up for us to do. One minute I would be photographing a accident scene, followed by a few grip-n-grin shots, and then developing roll after roll of black and white film, and then printing the ones Wayne circled with a red wax pencil on the contact sheets. In Ellsworth at the time most were not receptive to the Tuesday and we ran some stories that riled a few folks up. Like one about deer poachers which ended up with someone leaving a deer head on the steps leading upstairs to our office. Shook up the person that opened the door for business up just a tad. For the past thirty years I have had the privilege of working with the elderly and the handicapped. One of the many things I enjoy is listening. Listening to their stories and their thoughts about life past, present and what’s in store for their future. One of the many interests I have outside of the work environment is genealogy and history in general. Of course one of the main things in each venue is documentation and actual documents from sources, whether it be family, friends or strangers. These records are windows to the past and those that document are needed for our future. This blog will be my personal record of memories I have of the past 62 years, and the stories others have told me in the past that might be of help to others in their adventures in digging around.   Some of my reflections will be history, emotions, and also questions that others might be able to answer.
