For the past thirty years I have had the privilege of
working with the elderly and the handicapped. One of the many things I enjoy is
listening. Listening to their stories and their thoughts about life past,
present and what’s in store for their future. One of the many interests I have
outside of the work environment is genealogy and history in general. Of course
one of the main things in each venue is documentation and actual documents from
sources, whether it be family, friends or strangers. These records are windows
to the past and those that document are needed for our future.
This blog will be my personal record of memories I have of
the past 62 years, and the stories others have told me in the past that might
be of help to others in their adventures in digging around. Some of my reflections will be history,
emotions, and also questions that others might be able to answer.
Doing this is also a personal task that will help me in my
further endeavors as well…and keep my sanity!
Also for a side note, I am now old enough to meet the criteria
for living where I work, a place 30 years ago I honestly doubted I would last
working at! Glad I stuck it out, best human relations education I could of
asked for…except for my stint working in a jail…that’s a whole other story…stay
tuned!
